Amy Coombs is a seasoned strategic consultant, registered lobbyist, experienced business professional, Director of Prestige Government Relations & Consulting Group. She is currently working as the Communications & Strategic Management Director for the Smigiel for Congress Campaign.
Amy has secured significant legislative experience working across the United States, including opportunities on state and national boards. Furthermore, she is a noted speaker on a national level, including speaking at the 2015 IIDA National Legislative Symposium in Austin, Texas. Amy has managed federal political campaigns and developed extensive experience leading and representing state coalitions.
Amy’s interests are diverse, as she has consulted as part of a team with the Standing Rock Sioux on issues related to child welfare, ICWA, and social and economic policy development. In addition to her work with the Lakota Tribal Governments, she is a primary consultant for an Eastern Band Cherokee Principal Chief Campaign, which has enriched her understanding of stakeholder needs, problem-solving, and creativity. Amy has formal graduate level professional training in evaluation design, including process, outcome, and efficiency evaluation that anchor her approach to policy and programming via an evidence-based foundation.
Lastly, Amy uses her leadership training and psychological expertise to develop capacity within individuals, groups, and applies this point of view when drafting legislation and policy analysis. On January 12, 2015, she received the State of Maryland Official Citation of Recognition, “In recognition of her tireless efforts within the legislative process on behalf of consumers of mental health services”. Amy brings a uniquely collaborative approach when addressing concerns of individuals, non-profits, corporations, and government agencies which is notably refreshing and productive.
She has a BS in Psychology from Brigham Young University and a MSW from the University of Southern California, where she specialized in community, organization, policy, and administration.
